From the Desk of Pastor Stephen L Girsh, Sr.
Some people step into your life in a way that catches you off guard. You don’t invite them. You don’t expect them. You’re not even sure what to do with them at first.
There’s something about them that makes you keep your distance — not out of unkindness, but out of uncertainty. Their timing feels unusual. Their presence feels unpredictable. Their motives feel hard to read. They don’t fit neatly into the categories you’re used to.
But then one day… they’re gone.
And it’s in the quiet that follows — the kind you can feel in your chest — that you realize how deeply their presence had settled into the corners of your life. How their quirks became familiar. How their interruptions became part of your rhythm. How their unexpected kindness carved out a space you didn’t know you’d miss.
Scripture says, “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some have entertained angels without knowing it.” (Hebrews 13:2)
Some friendships aren’t meant to stay long. Some aren’t meant to grow roots or follow the usual patterns. Some are sent for a moment — a divine appointment wrapped in mystery, disguised as inconvenience, curiosity, or even caution.
But their impact… that stays.
You find yourself replaying the odd conversations. You remember the timing that never made sense until now. You feel the absence of someone you never expected to matter. And your soul begins to ache — not for answers, but for understanding. For even a whisper of what became of them. For some reassurance that the story didn’t just end in silence.
Because some people are angels in disguise. Not the kind that stay. Not the kind that explain themselves. But the kind that leave you changed.
They sharpen you without trying. They soften you without knowing. They leave fingerprints on your spirit that time can’t wash away.
They walk with you briefly… but they stay with you for the rest of your life.
