“A Heart at Rest in God”

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.” — Isaiah 26:3

Today has been one of those rare gifts — a day where God’s fingerprints were on every moment. A good church service, the blessing of bringing Brenda home, time spent with family, and the quiet relief of knowing everyone made it safely back to their homes tonight. As the house settles and the day comes to a close, I’m reminded of something simple but powerful:

Peace is not the absence of trouble. Peace is the presence of God.

We walk through long weeks, unexpected hospital visits, worries we don’t say out loud, and responsibilities that stack up higher than we planned. And yet, in the middle of all of it, God has a way of slipping His peace into our day — sometimes through a moment of worship, sometimes through the smile of someone we love, sometimes through the quiet of a night like this.

Today, I felt His peace in the sanctuary. I felt His peace when Brenda walked through the door. I felt His peace watching my children head home safely. And I feel His peace now, as I look toward tomorrow.

Tomorrow will bring its own work — maybe laying down more grass at the church, maybe tending to the things that need doing before the rain comes. But even that is a blessing. God gives us hands to work, hearts to love, and moments to rest. And He walks with us through every one of them.

So tonight, I’m grateful. Grateful for love that holds steady. Grateful for peace that settles the soul. Grateful for a God who never leaves us to face a single day alone.

May we all rest in His goodness tonight, and wake tomorrow with hearts ready to serve Him again.

Lord, thank You for Your peace. Thank You for Your presence. Thank You for the quiet assurance that You are with us — in the busy moments, in the hard moments, and in the gentle ones like tonight. Keep our minds stayed on You, and let Your peace guard our hearts. Amen.
