“Where Faith Grows and Community Thrives”
From the Pastor’s Desk — A Word for May
May has a quiet way of reminding us that growth is almost always happening beneath the surface, long before we ever notice it above ground. We plant, we water, we wait — and then one morning we look out across the yard and something has changed. Green where there was once bare earth. Life where there was only patience. I think God works much the same way in our lives and in our church. He is steady when we are restless, faithful when we are forgetful, and always — always — at work in the ordinary moments we might otherwise overlook.
This is the comfort I have been sitting with as we move through this season together. The Holy Spirit does not often announce Himself with fanfare. He does not shout to be heard over the noise of our weeks. He simply stays — present in the quiet of an early morning, present in the hard Sundays when you showed up anyway, present in the laughter of a shared meal and the silence of a long prayer. He is what Jesus promised He would be: our Helper, our Comforter, the One who remains.
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever — the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”— John 14:16–17 (NIV)
As you move through this month, I want to encourage you to look back — even briefly — over the past few weeks and notice where God has been at work. You may be surprised by what you see. Friendships that have deepened. Prayers that have been answered quietly. Strength that arrived just in time. The fruit of the Spirit rarely announces itself loudly, but it is real, and it is growing in this congregation. I am grateful to be your pastor, and I am grateful to walk this season with you.
With love and gratitude,
Pastor Stephen

Honoring Those Who Served — Memorial Day, May 25
On this Memorial Day, we pause with grateful and reverent hearts to honor the men and women who gave everything in service to this nation — whose lives were laid down so that others might live freely. We hold their memories with deep respect, and we extend our love and gratitude to the families who have carried the weight of that sacrifice every day since. Their loss is not forgotten, and their courage continues to shape the world we live in.
As a congregation, we invite you to take a moment this Memorial Day weekend to remember — to speak a name, offer a prayer, or simply sit in quiet gratitude for those who served. May we never take lightly the freedom we enjoy, and may God comfort every family still tender from the cost of it.
News and Updates from Abbott Methodist Church
Many of you may have noticed that our church grounds are looking a little more lush and alive these days — and there’s good reason for that. The grass planting project on the church property has been completed, and the results are a genuine encouragement to see. What was once bare or thin ground has been given new life, and it did not happen without effort. There are hands behind that work — faithful, willing hands that gave their time and energy to care for this place we all call home. To everyone who played a part in making that happen, we want you to know: it is noticed, it is appreciated, and it matters more than you know.
And then came the rain. Right on time — as if on cue — the skies opened up and gave those newly planted seeds exactly what they needed to take root and begin to grow. We do not take that lightly. There is something deeply meaningful about watching provision arrive at just the right moment, in just the right measure. It is a small and ordinary thing, perhaps — rain falling on a church lawn — but it reminded us that God’s faithfulness shows up in every form, from the largest answered prayer to the gentlest spring shower. We are grateful for the rain, and we are grateful for the God who sends it.
A Word of Thanks — Our Church Family Volunteers
This church would not be what it is without the people who serve it quietly and consistently, week after week. You know who you are — the ones who arrive early to set up and stay late to tear down. The ones who greet with a warm smile before the first song is sung. The ones who run the sound board, adjust the lights, and make sure everything is in place so that others can worship without distraction. The ones who lead music, teach children, pray in back rooms, prepare food, and show up with a willing spirit even when life is full. Every act of service you offer — no matter how small it may seem to you — is seen by God, and it is building something that will last far beyond any single Sunday morning.
We want you to hear this clearly and personally: you are not just helping run a program — you are the hands and heart of this congregation. The ministry of Abbott Methodist Church lives in you, in your faithfulness, in your generosity of time and talent. We are deeply grateful for every one of you. Thank you for serving this church family with such grace.
Until We Meet Again
To the congregation of Abbott Methodist Church — thank you. Thank you for showing up through every kind of season. Thank you for your generosity, your prayers, your laughter, and your willingness to keep walking forward even when the road has felt uncertain. This community is a gift, and it does not go unnoticed. God is at work in this place, and we believe that the best days of Abbott Methodist are still ahead. Your faithfulness through this season is bearing fruit — even the fruit you haven’t seen yet.
If you are reading this and you are not yet part of our church family — or perhaps you once were, and life drifted you away — please know that there is a place here for you. No one needs to have it all figured out to walk through our doors. We are a community of ordinary people who believe in an extraordinary God, and we would be honored to have you with us. Our doors are open, our seats are ready, and we are praying for this community — for your families, your homes, and your hearts. You are welcome here.
